“I was having back problems from the weight gain. I was really struggling that holiday,” she admits. “Along with my anxiety and depression, the weight made me feel worse. I hated looking in the mirror.
“My back hurts so bad I never want to go out. I don't want to do anything with the kids – my body is exhausted. I know I'll be on a diet when I get back.”
Painting signed up for the Cambridge Weight Plan's 1:1 Diet, in which users eat a smoothie for a set period of time followed by a high-protein meal.
After following the plan, Painting lost 7.5 lbs (48 kg) in eight months, and her 12th weighs 6 lbs (80 kg) and now fits a size 12.
“I can now enjoy my time with the children,” said the mum-of-two, from Gloucester. “I'm definitely going to hang out with my kids for a few days, I'll take them out, where I wouldn't before.
“I've learned to live with myself. I'm in the best shape I can remember, even in my 20s—I'm in the best shape I've ever been.”
