However, most Indian snacks are high in carbohydrates, making them difficult for those on a low-carb diet. While there are many low-carb options on the market, here are some readily available options that are both delicious and nutritious.

1. Masala Omelet

Masala Omelette is a famous Indian breakfast dish that is easy to prepare and low in carbohydrates. It can be made in your kitchen using simple herbs, spices and vegetables. You can always dress it up in a desi Indian way by tweaking flavors and swapping ingredients so that the result is in perfect sync with your taste and nutrition.

2. Paneer Tikka

“Paneer Tikka is one of the most popular vegetarian Indian snacks, low in carbohydrates and high in protein. To make it, you simply cut paneer into cubes and soak it in curd, ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder , paprika, and salt. Skewer the cheese cubes and bake until golden brown. For extra flavor, you can also add vegetables like onions, tomatoes, and bell peppers for added nutrition,” says the expert.

3. Spicy Roasted Nuts

Roasted nuts are a great option for those on a low-carb diet. You can combine peanuts, almonds, cashews, and walnuts for this snack. To make these, you place all the nuts in a heated pot along with spices such as ground cumin, coriander, paprika and salt. Roast until the nuts are golden brown and crisp.

4. Greek yogurt

Greek yogurt is an excellent source of protein and probiotics. It's low in carbohydrates and can be flavored with fruit or nuts.

5. Hummus vegetables

Raw vegetables like carrots, cucumbers, and bell peppers are low in carbohydrates and high in fiber. They can be dipped in hummus, which is a great source of healthy fats and protein.

6. Cheese

Cheese is an excellent source of protein and healthy fats. It has fewer carbohydrates and can be paired with vegetables or nuts for extra flavor. It's rich in vitamins A, D, K and zinc, which are known to support bone health and reduce inflammation.
