From Strong Immunity To Weight Loss, Here Are 4 Reasons Why You Must Add Good Fats To Your Diet

Healthy Fats Can Help Balance Your Hormones
A healthy diet is one that contains adequate amounts of all the nutrients your body needs to function properly. In addition to protein, vitamins and carbohydrates, you need good fats for various reasons. We often find ourselves avoiding fat because it can lead to obesity, clogged blood vessels, and lead to other health problems. Introducing too much fat to your diet can lead to weight gain, but ignoring this nutrient completely won't do you any favors either.
According to nutritionist Dr. Vishakha Shivdasani, you can eat fat without worry as long as you choose the right fats. She says it's “bad, rancid and hydrogenated fats,” not good fats, that cause multiple health problems. In her latest Instagram post, the nutritionist lays out four reasons why we should make sure we're consuming good fats.
Health Benefits of Fat
1. Enhance immunity
According to nutritionists, our cell layers are made of lipids, and when we don't get enough fat, this layer becomes fragile. This can allow pathogens and bacteria to enter cells, which can lower your immunity and make you more likely to get sick.
2. Lose weight
Foods rich in high-quality fats are very filling and can keep you feeling full for a long time. Eating them can help you cope with hunger and support your weight loss journey.
3. Balance hormones
Nutritionists say fat is better at balancing hormones in the body than any other macronutrient. For those with diabetes, insulin resistance, or PCOS, consider including good fats in their diet.
4. Prevent Vitamin Deficiency
Vitamins A, D, E, and K are all fat-soluble vitamins. This means that if you are not eating enough fat, then this could lead to a vitamin deficiency.
Nutritionists advise against vegetable fats and stress that reusing cooking oils, especially those used for frying, should be avoided. “It's certainly dire for heart health,” she asserted.
