Does eating rice make you fat?

To eat rice or not to eat rice is a big question for people who lose weight! When it comes to weight loss, the one thing almost everyone says you should avoid is rice. While they're a staple in half the world, they're touted as a culprit for weight gain. But does it really make you fat? Is this why you can't lose extra kilos?

If you've been looking for answers to these questions, you've come to the right page. Today, what we want to share with you is the truth (or lie) that rice can make you fat.

Does rice make you fat?

Fitness trainer Miten Kakaiya recently posted on his Instagram account that rice has nothing to do with weight gain. In his words, “Rice won't make you fat.”

He calls it a fitness fad, where every food is an important part of the weight loss journey. Cutting back on food to meet your fitness goals isn't the best way to lose weight. He added, “Rice or grilled meat is not why you gain weight.”

Overeating is to blame for weight gain

In fact, too much of any food can cause problems, while eating it in moderation can be good for you. Kakaiya says “overeating and not staying within the calories you need for the day” is the problem with weight loss. Research also supports the claim that overeating can lead to weight gain. While it's not the only factor that contributes to weight gain, it plays an important role in making you put on unwanted pounds.

A study published in the journal Annals of Nutrition and Metabolism found that creating a calorie deficit may help with weight loss. For the unfamiliar, a person can create a calorie deficit by consuming fewer calories per day or week than they need to maintain their current weight. The reduction in calories will eventually lead to weight loss.

1. Exercise is a must

3. Avoid Certain Foods

While you should include major food groups in your diet, there are certain foods you should avoid that may contribute to weight gain. You should avoid foods with added sugar, saturated fat, and sodium.

4. Make these foods part of your diet

As mentioned earlier, your diet should be a combination of food sources such as whole grains, protein, and dairy.

5. Includes 4 sports

Your exercise routine should incorporate endurance, strength, balance and flexibility. Each of these forms of exercise provides different benefits and improves your life.

While these are all natural ways to lose weight, be sure to consult with your doctor and fitness trainer to see which method is best for you.
