She told Steph's Packed Lunch: “I've been going up and down in weight over the years, and while I've been happier getting bigger, I don't think I've actually fully grasped the implications – I didn't expect that at 35 Sometimes I get arthritis.

“I didn't link being overweight with arthritis, you usually think I might have diabetes, I might have a heart attack, not the correlation between being overweight and obese and then putting stress and impact on your joints. “

“I wish I had noticed it earlier and understood it better, that's why I wanted to play today.

“It's not about body shaming, whatever body shape you want to be, but if you have the knowledge and you understand the correlation between the two, then you make your own decisions and it's trying to raise awareness.

“I'm on a lot of different medications, but I'm not really mad. I'm doing a lot of holistic things. I'm seeing an acupuncturist. I'm doing less medical and more holistic types of therapy, and they're talking Steroid injections.

She candidly admitted: “I'm fed up with everything. You caught me today!”

“I've actually been stressed out about college deadlines and the kids' schedules with school and their dads, and I think that's contributing to the weight loss.

“It means my skin has loosened up, so while I still feel a million times better than when I wasn't healthy, I'm now like, ‘Maybe I want to do something about this', so I'm considering a tummy tuck

The reality star began by adding: “I think it's aging me a bit,” before admitting she was also considering breast augmentation because she thought her breasts were “disfigured” after the procedure.

After the surgery, she explained why she had the surgery, writing on social media: “It was a build-up of things: medical issues related to obesity, deteriorating mental health, I barely ever leave the house. My health needs a second Chance.

Asked if she felt she had any choice, Chanel wrote: “Of course I do. If I don't try surgery I'll keep eating myself to my grave. It's not for everyone and I've researched it extensively , it changed my life.

Elsewhere, Chanel, speaking about her osteoarthritis, revealed that it took her a long time to be diagnosed.

She said: “It took a long time because you can't diagnose with a blood test.

“I've actually had pain in my left hip and left knee for a long, long time, so it probably started in 2017 when I was pregnant with my second son.

‘It hasn't really improved since then. Then I was diagnosed with chronic pain, fatigue and ME which was managed with certain medications and other treatments like cognitive behavioral therapy.

“But the pain is still so intense, it wakes me up at night, I can't sit like this for too long, and when I'm driving it comes on suddenly, it's horrible.”

Chanelle continued: “So I was referred to another physiotherapist and he said it could be bursitis, let's do a pelvic x-ray to make sure it's back, I have it in both hips, But I don't really know how to feel it in my right hip, just in my left hip, but as Shakira says, “my hip doesn't lie”.

What is Osteoarthritis?

Osteoarthritis – sometimes called “wear and tear” – is a condition that occurs when the inner surface of a joint is damaged.

According to Versus Arthritis, over time, the cartilage that covers the end of the bone becomes thinner and the bone thickens.

In the UK, around one third of people aged 45 and over have the condition. This equates to approximately 8.75 million people. It is known that at least 20 million people are suffering in the United States.

It is different from rheumatoid arthritis, a long-term disease in which the immune system causes the body to attack itself, causing joint pain, swelling and stiffness.

People with osteoarthritis often require joint replacement because the joint has worn down and caused excruciating pain.

When asked by host Stephen McGovern how it affects her mental health, Chanel replied: “It does, which is why we discussed earlier how CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) can really help you when you Now when you treat a person, you are the whole person, even if I have pain in my hip, it affects my state of mind.

“Instead of taking so many meds, it's really important to try to manage how you mentally handle the pain.” Once you get it, you get it, it's not going anywhere, it's not really getting any better good.

Keeping it positive, she added: “I'm glad now I know what it is. I feel like knowledge is power.

“So now I can come up with different treatments and I can eat more anti-inflammatory foods to reduce the chance of inflammation.”
