Losing Weight: 7 Tips to Help You Practice Mindful Eating

Mindful Eating Can Help You Lose Weight

We all know it's hard not to take a bite when a gourmet burger is served. In this situation, we sometimes lose control and gobble down excess food. Tempting dishes keep us craving more and more, even when our bellies are full and we don't need more food. When you're not really paying attention to what you're eating, but just mindlessly chewing, it's called mindless eating. Doing so over the long term can have adverse effects on your health. Therefore, it is crucial to start paying attention to what you eat to become healthier.

So if you're confused about how to practice mindful eating, nutritionist Lovneet Batra shares some much-needed tips.

7 Tips for Mindful Eating

1. Take it easy

The nutritionist said that you should not rush to eat, take your time. This will ensure that you focus on what you are eating rather than just swallowing food.

2. Chewing properly

Our parents often tell us to focus on chewing and grinding food properly before swallowing. Chewing properly is another important part of mindful eating, and nutritionists recommend that you have to start paying attention to it.

3. Put down the phone

Endlessly scrolling social media pages while eating is the new normal. But if you want to eat with your heart, turn off the TV and put down your phone.

4. Eat quietly

Instead of talking and debating at the dinner table, consider eating quietly in your room. You can also choose to sit in an open space without too much noise.

5. Think about how food makes you feel

Each food has a different texture, taste and consistency. So when you eat a spoonful of something, try to focus on the feelings the food evokes.

6. Stop eating when the time comes

No matter how delicious something is, you should not eat it when you are full. Overeating has been linked to many health problems, and you should avoid it.

7. Why do you want to eat?

It's important to ask yourself if you're really hungry, or if you're just eating because the food tastes good. Also, think about the choices you've made about food and check to see if it's nutritious.
